Four observations after our Dutch Blockchain Week 2025

Over the course of a week packed with 30 events all over The Netherlands, Dutch Blockchain Week brought together the global blockchain elite and the full breadth of the Dutch ecosystem. From adrenaline-fuelled sports showcases to invitation-only executive dinners, from focused niche meetups to our flagship Main Summit in Amsterdam, every corner of the scene was buzzing.

Attendees, partners and speakers alike showered the week with glowing feedback—so much so that capturing it all in a single blog post feels almost impossible. Yet, four key themes emerged that together tell the story of why Dutch Blockchain Week was nothing short of exceptional.

Blockchain and crypto become boring. And that’s a great thing!

If you’ve followed this space, you might have thought blockchain and crypto were becoming… well, a bit boring. But that “boring” is fantastic news. It means we’ve finally reached Gartner’s Plateau of Productivity: The hype cycles have settled, the worst excesses have been weeded out, and robust regulation has arrived to level the playing field for innovators and institutions alike.

Building those blocks

Against this backdrop of steady, utility-driven progress, Dutch Blockchain Week drove home one central truth: regardless of shifting geopolitics, the community’s focus remains squarely on creation. In bustling venues across Amsterdam, builders and strategists alike shared a common refrain—keep iterating, keep refining, and keep pushing live deployments forward.

What stood out most was how broad this commitment proved to be. On stage, alongside core developer panels, senior leaders from legacy finance, manufacturing giants and government agencies all spoke the same language. Their experiments aren’t back-of-envelope pilots anymore; they’ve graduated to fine-tuning proven deployments. Whether it was dialing in the performance of a cross-border settlement network or sharpening the resilience of a supply-chain provenance system, the question has shifted from “Should we?” to “How can we do it best?”

Together, these conversations painted a picture of an ecosystem that’s past the proof-of-concept phase and deep into optimization—tirelessly evolving, collaboratively innovating, and ready to scale.

From beta to benchmark: Europe’s rergulation’s rise as the blockchain quality seal

Regulation and compliance unmistakably set the tone throughout the week. Virtually every on-stage dialogue—and countless hallway conversations—returned to the evolving legal landscape. Organizations of all stripes are wrestling with rulebooks: some feel they’ve crossed the finish line, but for most it remains an ever-moving “beta” project. Yet there’s a palpable sense of relief: many see a light at the end of the tunnel, as frameworks solidify and auditability becomes standard. That clarity is already fueling a wave of positivity—serving as a de facto quality seal that reassures investors, governments and blue-chip enterprises alike that they can confidently back crypto ventures and integrate blockchain into their core operations.

The power of the Dutch ecosystem

While eyes often shift toward the US and Asia for blockchain breakthroughs, the Netherlands quietly reclaimed its spot on the global stage. The Dutch vibrant mix of corporates, regulators and scrappy startups showcased an ecosystem built on genuine collaboration—where multinational enterprises co-innovate with public agencies, and accelerators nurture dozens of fresh ventures every year. That fertile soil has given rise to an influx of new talent, from strategic consultants to hands-on protocol developers, all eager to push boundaries. It’s clear: the Dutch blockchain community isn’t just playing catch-up—it belongs among the world’s elite, driving innovation with its characteristic pragmatism, openness and flair.

See you soon… and next year!

As Dutch Blockchain Week drew to a close, one thing was unmistakably clear: the future of this technology isn’t a distant promise—it’s happening now, and the Netherlands is at its heart. From the “boring” maturity signaled by real-world production deployments, through the steady drumbeat of compliance and quality assurance, to the uniquely collaborative and fertile Dutch ecosystem, the week reminded us that blockchain has moved beyond hype into lasting impact.

As we look ahead to the next chapter, let’s carry forward the spirit of relentless building, rigorous standards and open partnership that defined these few unforgettable days. Together, we’ll continue shaping a more transparent, efficient and inclusive world—block by block.

See you soon at one of our BCNL Foundation’s event… and next year at the Dutch Blockchain Week 2026. Stay tuned!
